You claim us, Almighty God, in the name of the Father who created us,
in the name of the Spirit who visits us,
and in the name of the Son who died for us.
You have given everything.
No saint has matched it.
No poet could devise such a love.
No theologian has ever been able to thoroughly describe it.
No pastor can preach it perfectly
No ear car hear the whole marvel.
You are beyond confession and comprehension.
Earth,
sea
and sky cannot contain you.
Eternity is your routine experience.
History is the record of your faithfulness.
Time,
light
and love
are your hand tools.
Death is no more.
And we, dear God, are the objects of your love and affection,
made in your image,
with the invisible capacities
to trust,
to hope
and to love.
We wait for the day of resurrection,
and we look forward to the world that is coming.
Give us the courage to finish the work
you have assigned for humankind to accomplish,
and, when the time is right,
come,
Lord Jesus,
come.
Amen.
