Prayer published in "Forced to Pray: God's Chosen Under Pressure"

Prayer from the end of the chapter on Job, p 53

Lord of mystery, Lord of might, the whole world is yours yet you visit with us, live with us, yearn for us, and place us at your banquet table as your honored guests. We do not know the why or the how of your love for us. We cannot understand it. We know that we do not deserve it. We marvel over your love, even your love of our enemies. We know that when we are talked about in heavenly places you are listening in with eager ear, to see how we’re doing, how we’re becoming your person.

Thank you for your patience, so far exceeding that of Job’s. Thank you for your might; power beyond imagination. Thank you for Job and his raw humanness. Thank you for being love, for in your loving care, our very being is given worth. And thank you for this life, that the one yet to come may be a fulfillment of Job’s vision written with an iron pen, and we shall see you face to face, knowing that this present experience is of value to you forever.

Amen.
